Abstract:

This data was collected during the Surfzone-Coastal Oil Pathways Experiment (SCOPE) conducted in December 2013 in the Northern Gulf of Mexico. The experiment focused on the exchanges between Destin Inlet and the nearby shelf waters. This dataset was collected from instruments deployed on the front of the University of Miami's RV Calliope (also known as the Surface Physics Experimental Catamaran). It consists of two ADV's deployed very near the surface as well as radiometric data collected from a tower on the vessel.

Purpose:

The data that was collected was intended to provide context and depth of knowledge in two areas: subsurface velocity fields and incident solar radiation (long and broadband-wave). The ADVs gathered two point values for the subsurface velocity observations. The PIR and PSP gathered the long and broadband-wave incident solar radiative fluxes, respectively.

Methods:

The ADVs were mounted below the mean water level on the bow of the SPEC. The radiometers were mounted above the pilot house, away from shadowing objects.
