Abstract:

Particle and zooplankton samples were collected during cruise EN496 using a CTD-rosette and a MOCNESS aboard the R/V Endeavor. Our objectives were to collect samples in the Northern Gulf of Mexico in the vicinity of the Mississippi Plume as well as at/near active seeps. This cruise was funded by the Biological Oceanography Program at NSF but we were also able to carry out a variety of ECOGIG sampling activities. The ship departed Gulfport MS on 07/02/2011 and returned to Gulfport on 07/27/2011.

Purpose:

This cruise was funded by the Biological Oceanography Program at NSF to study the interactions between the Mississippi Plume and offshore waters of the Gulf of Mexico. We were able to accommodate a variety of ECOGIG sampling activities focused on the impacts of oil and gas on offshore ecosystems.
