Abstract:

These datasets are site based counts and density estimates of Red Snapper from ROV video taken on natural reefs and uncharacterized (unknown) habitats from 2018 and 2019.

Purpose:

To estimate the number of red snapper off of western Florida.

Data Parameters and Units:

site: Name of sampling location lat: Latitude lon: Longitude habitat: Habitat description; nb= natural bank hscore: hscore is a score derived from video from 1-3 with 1 being flat 2 being some structure <1m and 3 being hard bottom of complex natural structure >1m region: region sampled; 4=north, 5=south depthc: depthc is the depth class; 1 is shallow (10-40), 2 is mid depth (41-100), and 3 is deep depth (101-160). rsclass: rsclass is the output, 1 being low probability to 3 being high the break point for these are currently 56% and 86% area: area sampled (m2) count: number of red snapper counted during survey density/m2: density of red snapper per m2 RS density in grid: number of Red Snapper in the grid area

Methods:

A remotely operated vehicle (ROV) was used to record underwater video for each site and then analyzed to identify and enumerate species (specifically Red Snapper) observed in each video.
