Abstract:

The data provided in this submission includes Excel sheets that present comprehensive information on the temporal and spatial distribution of the model output. These outputs are meticulously organized in both monthly and annual formats, with each parameter thoughtfully assigned to a separate column within the Excel files. This dataset encompasses nine distinct parameters: 1) Total precipitation in millimeters, representing the amount of rainfall on the sub-basin. 2) Actual evapotranspiration in millimeters, indicating the water loss from the sub-basin due to evaporation and transpiration. 3) Surface runoff contribution in millimeters, representing the portion of water flowing over the surface and eventually contributing to streamflow during the month and year. 4) Water yield in millimeters, signifying the net water leaving the sub-basin and contributing to streamflow in the reach for the given month and year. 5) Sediment yield in metric tons per hectare, representing the amount of sediment transported from the sub-basin to the reach during the month and year. 6) Sediment transport in metric tons per hectare, indicating the sediment moved from the sub-basin into the reach during the month and year. 7) NO3 in surface runoff in kilograms of nitrogen per hectare, representing the amount of nitrate transported by surface runoff into the reach during the month and year. 8) Organic nitrogen in surface runoff in kilograms of nitrogen per hectare, representing the amount of nitrate transported by surface runoff into the reach during the month and year. 9) Organic phosphorus in surface runoff in kilograms of nitrogen per hectare, representing the amount of nitrate transported by surface runoff into the reach during the month and year. All parameters in the spatial variations are presented as an average annual value over each sub-basin. All the parameters in the temporal variations are presented as an average monthly value over each sub-basin. Purpose:

The objective of this study was to develop a Soil Water Assessment Tool (SWAT) model for the Baffin Bay watershed in Texas. This model was then used to quantify surface runoff, evapotranspiration, nutrient content, and sediment yield loadings to Baffin Bay during the period from 2001 to 2020.

Data Parameters and Units:

SUB = Subbasin number; AREA = Area of the subbasin (km2); PRECIP = Total amount of precipitation falling on the subbasin during time step (mm H2O); ET = Actual evapotranspiration from the subbasin during the time step (mm); SURQ = Surface runoff contribution to streamflow during time step (mm H2O); WYLD = Water yield (mm H2O), the net amount of water that leaves the subbasin and contributes to streamflow in the reach during the time step. (WYLD = SURQ + LATQ + GWQ – TLOSS – pond abstractions); SYLD = Sediment yield (metric tons/ha), sediment from the subbasin that is transported into the reach during the time step; NSURQ = NO3 in surface runoff (kg N/ha), nitrate transported by the surface runoff into the reach during the time step; ORGN = Organic nitrogen in surface runoff (kg N/ha), ORGP = Organic phosphorus in surface runoff (kg P/ha); Time: Annual average [YYYY], monthly average [MM/DD/YYYY]
