Abstract:

Inpatient and outpatient discharge claims, covering the period 2013-2022, including ICD codes, CPT procedures, and demographic information, were obtained from Mississippi hospitals through the MS Department of Health. The data pertained to county residents of patients and did not include personally identifiable information such as names, social security numbers, phone numbers, or street addresses. These data were collected for the purpose of studying chronic conditions associated with Social Determinants of Health (SDoH)."

Purpose:

The purpose of using Mississippi state hospital discharge data is to analyze patient outcomes, identify healthcare trends, and inform policy decisions that aim to improve public health, optimize resource allocation, and enhance the quality of care in the state’s healthcare system.

Data Parameters and Units:

This dataset includes demographic information such as age, gender, race, and ethnicity, as well as zip codes for spatial analysis. Data is still in the process of being sent to the project.
