Abstract:

This community-driven project aims to collaborate with various community organizations and citizens to improve population health data systems in Beaumont and Port Arthur Gulf Communities in Texas. Throughout the project, from October 2023 to July 2025, a comprehensive effort will be undertaken to advance public health data systems within the communities of Beaumont and Port Arthur, located along the Gulf of Mexico in Texas. The primary focus is to gather extensive data related to both spatial and social determinants of health, alongside a meticulous examination of air quality conditions in the region. This multifaceted initiative employs survey methodologies and state-of-the-art technology, including deploying Air Sampling Canister and Blue Sky devices. These instruments will play a crucial role in systematically collecting data on air quality, offering insights into various pollutants and atmospheric conditions prevalent in the study area. By linking spatial and social determinants of health with air quality metrics, the project aims to provide a holistic understanding of the factors influencing public health in these coastal communities. The ultimate goal is to contribute valuable information to inform policy decisions, public health interventions, and community initiatives, fostering an environment conducive to improved health and well-being. Through meticulous data collection and analysis, this endeavor aspires to bring about positive changes and fortify the foundation of public health in Beaumont and Port Arthur.
