Abstract:

Conductivity, temperature, dissolved oxygen, and depth data were collected from a ship-based CTD at each station sampled during the summer of 2017 (2017-05-19 to 2017-09-25). The depth of the casts are variable but extend from the water surface to the substrate depth, generally less than 80 m. These data may be used to examine the vertical structure of the water column and to calculate sound speed profiles to be applied to the scientific echosounders. Purpose:

This data will be used to examine the vertical structure of the water column and also be used to calculate sound speed profiles to be applied to the scientific echosounders.

Methods:

The CTD is manually deployed and retrieved off the vessel, the F/V Backdown2. 'Spins' and 'Transects' are two sampling approaches employed by the ROV following Patterson et al. (2009). Wind, wave height, and cloud cover estimates were made from observations from the chief scientist for each survey. The area surveyed was computed using the camera (ROV or GoPro) field of view, height off the seafloor, and transect length. Details may be found in Tarnecki et al. (2021).
