Abstract:

This dataset contains input files for the habitat capacity model of the ecosystem model WFS Reef fish Ecospace, which were produced from the predictions of generalized additive models (GAMs) fitted to: (1) the survey data contained in the dataset whose UDI is FL.x703.000:0003; and (2) the environmental data contained in the dataset whose UDI is FL.x703.000:0006. The data provided in the present dataset are probabilities of encounter for the fish and invertebrate functional groups/species/life stages represented in the WFS Reef fish Ecospace model.

Purpose:

The purpose of this dataset is to parameterize the habitat capacity model of the ecosystem model WFS Reef fish Ecospace, such that the WFS Reef fish Ecospace model can predict the spatial distribution of fish and invertebrates dynamically, in relation to environmental conditions in the modeled system.

Data Parameters and Units:

This dataset includes a total of 15 files: (1) depth.csv, which gives probabilities of encounter for different values of bottom depth (m); (2) tri.csv, which gives probabilities of encounter for different values of terrain ruggedness index (TRI) (unitless); (3) percentSand.csv, which gives probabilities of encounter for different values of local percentage of sand (%); (4) percentMud.csv, which gives probabilities of encounter for different values of local percentage of mud (%); (5) percentNaturalReef.csv, which gives probabilities of encounter for different values of local percentage of natural reef (%); (6) percentHB.csv, which gives probabilities of encounter for different values of local percentage of hardbottom (%); (7) distanceFromShore.csv, which gives probabilities of encounter for different values of distance from shore (m); (8) surfaceChla.csv, which gives probabilities of encounter for different values of surface chlorophyll-a concentration (mg/m^3); (9) sst.csv, which gives probabilities of encounter for different values of sea surface temperature (°C); (10) surfaceSalinity.csv, which gives probabilities of encounter for different values of surface salinity (unitless); (11) surfaceDO.csv, which gives probabilities of encounter for different values of surface dissolved oxygen (DO) concentration (mL/L); (12) bottomTemperature.csv, which gives probabilities of encounter for different values of bottom temperature (°C); (13) bottomSalinity.csv, which gives probabilities of encounter for different values of bottom salinity (unitless); (14) currentSpeed.csv, which gives probabilities of encounter for different values of oceanic current speed (m/s); (15) turbidity.csv, which gives probabilities of encounter for different values of turbidity (m^-1). In the files that are provided here: * Each column is a functional group/species/life stage (an index was assigned to each of the fish and invertebrate functional groups/species/life stages represented in the WFS Reef fish Ecospace model; see below). * The first row indicates the name of the environmental parameter under consideration. * Rows 2 and 3 are the minimum and maximum values of the environmental parameter. * The remaining 1200 rows define the functional relationship between the environmental parameter and the probability of encounter of the functional group/species/life stage.
